Fantasy Survival Force of Nature 2

This project interviews the developers of new indie games that interest you. This time, we will deliver a mini-interview to the developer of the fantasy survival RPG ” Force of Nature 2: Ghost Keeper ” , which was officially released on May 28 for AYstd development and PC .

This work is a fantasy RPG that is packed with elements of various genres. Enjoy elements of survival, sandbox, action, adventure, RPG, strategy and resource management. It also features a randomly generated map, day / night / weather system, crafts and side quests, and a bifurcated ending.

First of all, please introduce yourself.

Artem I’m Artem from Kharkiv, Ukraine. I live in Russia now. Originally I moved to Moscow to attend college, but for the last few years I have traveled around Russia.

I am 33 years old and live with my wife and daughter. My hobby is listening to music and drawing pictures, which is a perfect hobby for my job of game development. I like games of all genres such as action, strategy, shooting, racing, horror, and I can’t choose one.

Artem I’ve been developing games since high school when I first took a programming class. However, it wasn’t until I gained practical experience as a programmer that I started working on full-scale game development. I’ve made about 10 games so far, but now I’m selling 3 games. The previous ” Force of Nature “, its sequel, and the small but addictive puzzle game ” Seven Red Lines ” that I helped my friends.

It was the reason I started making the previous work, but at one point I realized that I had the knowledge and skills to make a game. At that time, I was playing ” Terraria “, so I thought “I think I could make a similar game myself” and started development.

Development of the sequel, this work, began in the summer of 2017. I have written in detail about the development process of this series on my blog (English) , so I hope you can read it. About 10 people are involved in this project. The exact number of people is not clear, as I have been helping out quite a bit. It seems that some of the assistants are getting help from friends.

Please tell us the features of this work.

Artem I think the craft is especially characteristic. This work is set in a fantasy world, but the craft is very logical and well-crafted. Also, the UI is very carefully made. This work is full of content anyway.

Are there any works that influenced this work?

Artem is influenced by many things. For books, Jules Verne’s “Mysterious Island,” “15-year-old Adventure Captain,” “The Children of Captain Grant,” Robert Louis Stevenson’s “Treasure Island,” and Daniel Defoe’s “Robinson Crusoe.” For movies, “The New Swiss Family Robinson,” “Jungle George,  and “The Revenant: The Revenant.” If it’s a game, “Minecraft” and “Terraria”. It’s also influenced by survival-related YouTube channels.

But above all, the origin of this work is the old Soviet cartoon “Treasure Island”.

Are there any plans to support Japanese for this work? Is volunteer translation possible?

Artem All translations of this work are done by volunteers. I would be happy to adopt a Japanese translation, so if anyone can help me, please contact me directly ( email ).

Did the new coronavirus have any impact on development?

Artem There wasn’t much. I mostly develop from home, and I contacted all the people who helped me online, and they all worked from home. However, it cannot be said that the new Corona did not affect the development of this work at all. Some of the assistants suffered from the new corona, and development was suspended.

Is it okay to distribute and monetize this work?

Artem Yes, it’s okay to have it delivered. There is no copyright issue, so it’s okay to distribute the music of this work as well.

Artem Please play a lot of games. But don’t forget to study and polish yourself. I was able to do what I liked because I had good math lessons and computer education.

Unfortunately I haven’t been to Japan yet, but my wife studied in Japan and wanted to visit Japan with her family this winter. However, the pandemic also broke the plan.

I play a lot of games, but I don’t really care where those games were made. Still, I love the “Sonic the Hedgehog,” “Silent Hill,” and “Resident Evil” series.
